Finlandia 3

Finlandia 4

G & G Italia is known for very ornate, Baroque-style framing with high-quality fabrics which when combined become very posh and unique furniture. They have some of the most elaborate arm chairs (such as Finlandia, Filippo, and Poltrona Corona), with frames in modern finishes, such as lacquered black, white, and red; as well as golds and silver. Upholstery with graphic prints and leathers are added to the intricate frames, becoming interestingly sexy chairs. Of course, you can use your own COM to match your decor as well.

Visit G & G Italia for more options and information.

H&M and Wal-Mart destroy and trash unsold goods...

This week the New York Times reported a disheartening story about two of the largest retail chains. You see, instead of taking unsold items to sample sales or donating them to people in need, H&M and Wal-Mart have been throwing them out in giant trash bags. And in the case that someone may stumble on these bags and try to keep or re-sell the items, these companies have gone ahead and slashed up garments, cut off the sleeves of coats, and sliced holes in shoes so they are unwearable.

This unsettling discovery was made by graduate student Cynthia Magnus outside the back entrance of H&M on 35th street in New York City. Just a few doors down, she also found hundreds of Wal-Mart tagged items with holes made in them that were dumped by a contractor. On December 7, she spotted 20 bags of clothing outside of H&M including, "gloves with the fingers cut off, warm socks, cute patent leather Mary Jane school shoes, maybe for fourth graders, with the instep cut up with a scissor, men’s jackets, slashed across the body and the arms. The puffy fiber fill was coming out in big white cotton balls.”

The New York Times points out that one-third of the city's population is poor, which makes this behavior not only wasteful and sad, but downright irresponsible. Wal-Mart spokeswoman, Melissa Hill, acted surprised that these items were found, claiming they typically donate all unworn merchandise to charity. When reporters went around the corner from H&M to a collections drop-off for charity organization New York Cares, spokesperson Colleen Farrell said, “We’d be glad to take unworn coats, and companies often send them to us."

After several days of no response from H&M, the company made a statement today, promising to stop destroying the garments at the midtown Manhattan location. They said they will donate the items to charity. H&M spokeswoman Nicole Christie said, "It will not happen again," and that the company would make sure none of the other locations would do so either. Hopefully that's the final word. [NY Times][Huff Post]

14 Pieces of Bad-Ass Men’s Furniture

14-pieces-of-bad-ass-furniture

You might know how to accessorize the ultimate man cave, but the right furniture can really make or break the look. Forgo the cozy love seats and traditional wood coffee tables for something with a bit more kutzpah. We’ve found the most Bad Ass Furniture known to man. Some are made out of real car parts, some covered with tattoos and some actually survived a war – all would make amazing gifts for men.

F-4 Ejection Seat

Your work day doesn’t seem quite so bad when you know you have a way to escape. The F-4 Ejection Seat isn’t a replica, but the real deal that’s been welded to a custom swivel chair base. The chair has been left in its original condition to preserve its war-time history.

Firebird Couch

Car enthusiast/furniture maker Steven Shaver wants you to bring your ride into your room with his amazing custom automotive furniture. Originally designed for an upscale car shop, he now offers his wares to the public. The Firebird couch features custom upholstery colors, embroidered car lettering and emblems on the rims.

Airplane Wing Conference Table

Nothing spices up a boring meeting in the conferences room like sitting at the giant Airplane wing conferences table. The glass surfaces lets you peer into the structure of the wing and see the worn details along its surface. You’ll have a hard time focusing on the matters at hand while you imagine what it would have been like to pilot the old bird.

Junk Car Sheet Metal Tables

It’s hard to give up that old heap of rusted metal you once called a truck. Sure, she’s pretty beat but you still see the beauty in that rusty hood. Joel Hester from Dallas, TX shares your sentiments and turns sheet metal from old American cars and trucks into beautiful tables. $850

Engine Coffee Table

This table’s got a little bit of everything… a vintage carburetor, brass knuckles and carved tattoos. These manly accents compliment the soft black leather and alligator and stingray skin set on top of its solid mahogany base. This hodge-podge of traditional elegance and hardy masculinity make the Engine Coffee Table a one of a kind piece of furniture.

B-52 Mitchell Bomber Plane Desk

The aluminum frame is stripped down to expose the sleek detail of the elevators and rudders of this re-purposed airplane wing. The Mitchell Bomber was used primarily during WWII fitted with .50 caliber machines guns and ran strafing missions. Own your own piece of aviation history and use this beautifully finished Bomber Plan wing as your office desk.

747 Cowling Reception Desk

Not everyone who comes to your office will appreciate just how rare the 747 Cowling Reception Desk truly is. But real aviation enthusiasts will realize that only 2 or 3 of the jumbo jets are made each year and these salvaged cowlings are not easy to come by. Couple the desk with an aircraft seat and you’ve officially got the coolest reception set up ever.

Tattoo Skull Chair

Take a boring and traditionally ornate chair from some era we could care less about (let’s guess Victorian or something) and stick a cool Skull tattoo design and suddenly it’s looking pretty awesome. The Tattooed Chair by Mama Tried features kick ass detailed artwork by tattoo artist Scott Campbell. The dark wood and detailed black designs give it an overall ominous appeal that is undisputedly bad ass.

Jake’s Custom Car Beds

Quite the upgrade from the little car bed you had when you were 6. This vintage car bed is made from real parts and of course features an awesome flame headboard that says this bed is on fire. The hood lifts up and doubles as storage space and the headlights are fully functional. $4000

Milano Bike Lounge Chair

What’s not bad ass about a chair made of chromed steel rims with flaming tires? The Milano Lounge Chair features inner-tube upholstery and is made of tires, handlebars and rims—all re-formed to create a cool custom lounge chair.

Oil Drum Rocker Chair

This piece of furniture turns the form and purpose of oil drums completely on its side… literally. The bright orange Oil Drum Rocker has a seat made of highly sustainable waxen smoked bamboo and due to its shape rocks slightly. Unlike some similar oil drum projects this chair still looks pretty much like its original form and is instantly recognizable for what it once was.

B707 Fuselage Room Divider

Finding creative ways to divide your loft apartment that don’t look sorta girly can be difficult. We’ve seen those Japanese paper wall dividers, but if you have pets or clumsy friends it doesn’t take long to trash them. But a B707 Fuselage Room Divider should do the trick—no one’s breaking this divider, let along knocking it down.

Throne Of Weapons Gun Chair

Look, I know you like your lazy boy, but only pansies sit on soft cushioned chairs meant to perpetuate their weakness. Real men only sit on rocks and chairs made out of lots and lots of guns. Big guns. The Throne Of Weapons chair was made from all types of guns from all over the world but mainly Ak47s.

Engine Glass Coffee Table

What’s a real man do when he needs a coffee table? He just grabs an engine and slaps a pane of glass on top and bam—he’s got a coffee table. Now it’s ready to be covered with beer cans and bags of beef jerky. The Engine Coffee Table may lack detail, but it’s the simplicity of the concept that makes it so awesome.

spanking paddle?

is foot binding torture back in style? have women & drag queens become 2 fierce & independent, & need 2 be reined in like in ancient china? 1 of the uses suggested for this shoe is a spanking paddle. what would u use it 4?

is this what's it's coming 2?

from the frisky.com:

If conceptual fashion is wearable art, then the runway is the museum it stays in. Some designers present collections with saleability in mind; others like to make a point by going the artsy route, in which case what lands on the shelves might not be quite what you saw at the fashion shows. Apparently not so in Alexander McQueen‘s case. When his extreme platform heels recently came down the runway in Paris, they garnered a lot of attention—but did we ever once think that these shoes weren’t just for show and were, gulp, available for sale?

According to Grazia, McQueen has “been inundated with calls from women wanting to order the footwear – starting from the day after the designer’s incredible catwalk show was streamed live on the web,” which might make him really consider producing the shoes en masse.

The real question is ... who are these buyers? Fashion fanatics with feet of steel? Collectors? Rich people who have to have everything? Our other ideas for situations in which these mega-heels could come in handy, after the jump. [Grazia.com]

  • Attending a convention for giants, or basketball players.
  • For short people trying to cheat the height requirement for an audition of “America’s Next Top Model”.
  • For pounding meat when you’ve lost your meat cleaver.
  • A makeshift hockey stick.
  • Makeshift ping-pong paddle.
  • Spanking paddle.
this is a more playful type of bondage if u r into chinese body torture.
last years prada

maybe the mcqueen shoe could be used by a ballet dancer who can't leave their work at the office.

heavage

my gbff (gay boy friend forever) is so f-ing skinny. he can't find a size small men's thermal shirt in any store. so i brought a couple of woman's shirts. they had scoopier necks than the guys shirt. i made him try them on for size & he shrieked that the neckline was way to low and way to queer even for a queer.
well guess what? plunging necklines r in for guys. they are calling it heavage. are you gagging and laughing. holy smoke batman it's 1970's chains and chest hair again.

from some fashion rag:

The old cliche goes: "If you've got it, flaunt it." But a new fashion trend may leave some people saying "No, please don't."

That's right. Guys are unbuttoning their shirts again. Necklines are plunging for men on fashion runways.

You're seeing lots of V-neck and scoop-neck shirts. They're perfect for those who want to show off their well-defined pectoral muscles -- that man cleavage that some are calling "heavage."

okay. r we ready for man boobs and chest hair?

heavage yes or no?
